Harvest Monday Aug 2, 2010

The tomatoes are coming in now.  It's a glorious thing!  I didn't get picture of everything, but you certainly get the idea.

This is the basics of what we're getting these days.  Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and a smattering of beans.

They look about the same, don't they?  We're really enjoying the produce.  I think I finally have enough cucumbers for pickles.  The family is so excited since we just finished the last of the bread and butter pickles from last year.

Head on over to Daphne's Dandelions to see what everyone is harvesting this week.

I love it when the tomato, pepper, and cucumber harvests start up! I am just getting an occassional tomato so far, but expect the volume to slowly increase over the coming weeks. If I am lucky the main patch will have a chance to ripen and produce fruit for me before the cold fall rains arrive and the plants all start to molder and die. It will be close this year because of our cool summer.

Beautiful summer harvests!

I see you are growing Serrano peppers. We just love them.

Laura, it is certainly my favorite time of the year. I really hope things improve for you weather wise. Last year was so awful here, I hope it gets better for you.

Emily, thanks! I can't believe how early they are this year.

Robin, we love peppers here and this has been a spectacular year for them.

It looks a lot like my harvests. I had a couple of peppers too but didn't photograph them and forgot to weigh them so they never made it into the tally. Such is life.

Ooh, pickles! We added some hot peppers to our dill pickles and I loved it!

Daphne, it's been a great year so far!

Meemsnyc, I may have to do that!

Looks like summer is in full swing in your garden! I couldn't get my jalapeno pepper seedlings to grow, but I'll chalk it up to newbie challenges (I have a lot of them!). I also get really excited about my tomato and cucumber harvest, and even about a few beans here and there. Enjoy your pickles!

Thyme2garden, I always have seedlings that just won't do anything. I'm still pretty new to this myself.
